Sobre mi renuncia a mi papel de moderador en Birdphotographers / About my resignation to the moderator role in Birdphotographers

Gracias majos :-)

A couple of weeks ago I announced to the staff of www.birdphotographers.net (BPN) my resignation to the role of moderator that I have been performing during the last two years. It was a very difficult decision to take but now, looking backward, I think that I did the right thing.

I arrived to BPN in February 2008 following an invitation that my friend Fabiola sent to me. It was at a moment in which I was a bit tired of photography forums and the “great shot” style commentaries, but I decided to accept her invitation and have a look on the new site. It looked different with a very refreshing point of view about honest critics and learning that hooked me quickly.

Sometime later, I was invited to moderate the “Spain/Latin America” forum. I carefully considered the proposal because it was a big responsibility (I had no previous experience in forum moderation and it was the first time that a part of an English based forum was developed in Spanish). I decided to accept the challenge and I did as much as possible to get participation from people speaking in Spanish and promoting BPN in as many forums as I could.

But the best of all was the invitation to join the moderator’s team in the avian forum. To share that role with photographers and persons that I really respect and admire was a lot of responsibility and a truly honor for me and, since then, I have been doing my best to keep my level as high as possible.

Needless to say that I have enjoyed my participation in the moderator´s team a lot, sometimes taking time from the sleeping hours, sometimes even in the middle of the stress of my daily job or waking up very early in the morning to see what was going on in BPN, but always has been very satisfactory. I can say a lot of positive things about BPN and hardly can find a negative one, important enough to be even cited. For me it is time to say goodbye to the moderation role because I really feel that I cannot do it with the same enthusiasm and effort that I have been trying to do.

I would like to acknowledge to everyone in the staff of BPN (and especially to Fabs Forns) the exquisite treatment that I have been given and the opportunity of share time, ideas and this experience with all of them. It has been a unique experience for me.

Thank you all guys and gals :-)

Juan
